General Informations:San Marino is a microstate in Southern Europe completely enclosed by Italy.

Located on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains, San Marino covers a land area of just over 61 km2 (24 sq mi), and has a population of 33,562.Its capital is the City of San Marino and its largest settlement is Dogana. The capital is set at the highest point of the country on a steep mountain.


Temperature:Certainly it is best to visit San Marino during the summer. Many say that the best month for visitation is July. December is also good to visit, due to the abundance of discounts and price cuts in shopping malls and shopping centers.


Language:The official language is Italian.

Palazzo Pubblico


The Palazzo Pubblico in San Marino is both the town hall and the seat of the Consiglio Grande e Generale, the parliament and the government of the small state, the Capitani Reggenti, the Consiglio dei XII and the Congresso di Stato. The neo-renaissance palace stands on Monte Titano; it was built between 1884 and 1894; its predecessor dates from 1380 to 1392. The last restoration was completed in September 1996 by Gae Aulenti. The palazzo is depicted on the lapel of San Marino's two euro coin.

The Catholic Basilica of San Marino, dedicated to Saint Marinus, is located in the city of San Marino and is the co-cathedral of the diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro, making it the highest church in the state. The church and the entire old town of San Marino have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The basilica is depicted on the San Marine 10 cent coin. Immediately next to the basilica is the Church of San Pietro.

Funivia di San Marino


The Funivia di San Marino is a cabin cable car in the Republic of San Marino. The two-lane aerial tramway in the city of San Marino was built by the Turin cable car company Agudio from 1956 and put into operation in August 1959. The operator is the state company Azienda Autonoma di Stato per i Servizi Pubblici. The aerial tramway runs from the valley station in Borgo Maggiore over a length of 338 meters to the highest mountain in San Marino, Monte Titano. The mountain station is located in San Marino in the immediate vicinity of the San Marino Basilica.
