Its capital and largest city is Windhoek. Namibia is a member state of the United Nations (UN), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU) and the Commonwealth of Nations.

Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park is a 22,935 square kilometer national park in the north of Namibia and the most important protected area in the country. From the southern border of the park it is 400 kilometers to the capital Windhoek and from the northern border 125 kilometers to the border with Angola. The name "Etosha" comes from the Oshivambo and means something like "large white square".

Sossusvlei

The Sossusvlei, also Sossus Vlei, is located in Namibia and is a beige salt-clay pan in the Namib, surrounded by sand dunes, which only has water in the rare good years of rain. Then for a short time a lake a few centimeters to several meters deep forms in the Vlei at the end of the Tsauchab.

Deadvlei

Twyfelfontein

In this area, thousands of rock paintings are gathered in a small space - both as rock paintings and especially as rock carvings - which come from cultures of the Mesolithic and Neolithic and are among the oldest underground representations in Africa.

The Christ Church in Windhoek is a church built from 1907 to 1910 by the Windhoeker Congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia. It is considered a symbol of the city. The building of the church was suggested in April 1896 by the pastor Wilhelm Anz; the designs came from the architect Gottlieb Redecker.


Swakopmunder Museum

The Swakopmund Museum is the local history and natural history museum of Swakopmund in Namibia. The museum is run by the Swakopmund Scientific Society. The museum is the largest museum of its kind in the country.

The Woermannhaus in Swakopmund, Namibia is one of the oldest buildings in the city and one of its most visited landmarks.
