Mosquée Massalikoul Djinane

Dakar Cathedral is the episcopal church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dakar in the Senegalese capital Dakar. It was consecrated on February 2, 1936 by the Archbishop of Paris Cardinal Jean Verdier.



Pont Faidherbe

The Pont Faidherbe is the only bridge that connects the old town of Saint-Louis in Senegal over the main arm of the Senegal River with the newer districts on the left eastern bank of the river. It is named after the former French governor of the Senegal colony, General Louis Faidherbe.

The Dindefelo Falls are located in the Kédougou region in the West African state of Senegal. They are located approximately 38 kilometers southwest of Kédougou. Monument de la Renaissance africaine

The Monument de la Renaissance africaine or Monument of the African Renaissance is a 49 meter high bronze statue in the Senegalese capital Dakar. The monument was erected at Cap Vert on one of the basalt cones known as Les Mamelles in the Ouakam district and is the tallest statue in Africa.

Djoudj National park

The Djoudj National Park in northern Senegal is the third largest bird reserve in the world. It has been a Ramsar sanctuary since 1977 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

Gorée is an island off the coast of Senegal, to whose territory it belongs. She became known as a symbol for the deportation of slaves across the Atlantic. The extent to which the slave trade was carried out via Gorée is assessed differently. Regardless of this, the island has become a memorial for the slave trade with the Maison des Esclaves. Since 1978 the island has been a world cultural heritage under the special protection of UNESCO.

Lake Retba, also called Lake Rose, is a salt lake in Senegal. It is located 35 km northeast of the capital Dakar.Lac Rose got its name because of its unique pink color, which is caused by the halophilic algae of the species Dunaliella salina, which is particularly visible in the dry season. The algae produce a red pigment that supports the absorption of sunlight in order to generate more of the energy carrier ATP. According to other sources, the color is caused by unspecified cyanobacteria.
